Program Eligibility

In order to be eligible for UH APEX Accelerator services, you:

• Must have formed your Sole Proprietorship, LLC, Corporation, or Partnership.  Cannot be thinking of starting a business.

• If the business structure you selected required you to register with the TX Secretary of State and you have been in business one year or longer, your TX Comptroller Franchise Tax Account Status must be active.  This does not apply to Sole Proprietorships.  Sole proprietorships (SP) operating under a doing business as (dba) must register their business with the county clerk office where the business is located.  To check your Franchise Tax Status, visit this website: Taxable Entity Search

• Must have your principal office located in our 28-county service area. Visit our Service Area Map webpage to see our county service area.  If your principal office is not located in our service area, visit our national association website, the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC) to find the APEX Accelerator nearest you.

• Must have the potential to succeed.  Defined as someone who has products (goods, services, construction) purchased by government and has at least $10,000 in total sales within the last two years.  We have two exceptions to our minimum sales eligibility requirements:

1.  We will accept applications from individuals with sales less than $10,000 that are pursuing opportunities under the SBIR/STTR Program.  The Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Programs are competitive programs that encourage domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) with the potential for commercialization.  Visit the SBIR / STTR Program website to learn more.

2. Individuals who have gained experience with the goods and services they want to sell to the government through:

a.  Sales made through the current company,

b.  Sales experience through a former employer,

c.  Sales experience through ownership in another company,

d.  Education obtained through a degree, license, or professional certification when it correlates to the industries the individual wants to sell to government, or

e.   Key personnel on your team that have the required experience listed in a - d above.
