At the UH APEX Accelerator (formerly UH PTAC) We Offer:

Business Consulting - UH APEX Accelerator provides free one-on-one consulting to educate and guide you in selling your goods and services to government.  Our consultants are knowledgeable, experienced, and ready to assist you in making selling to the government less complicated.

Business Training - UH APEX Accelerator offers a variety of training workshops and on-demand and live webinars at no cost to you on procurement topics including how to do business with the federal government, state of Texas, and local government, how to locate government opportunities, conducting market research, pricing your offer, government certification programs, and more.  Our instructors have extensive knowledge of the government procurement process to educate you in selling your goods and services to government.  Click here to see the UH APEX Accelerator workshop schedule where you'll find the listing of  workshops you can register to attend for free.

Completing Registrations and Certifications - Your vendor registration tells government agencies you are ready to do business with them.  We will assist you in selecting your industry codes to include in your registration, so government agencies know what you want to sell to them and can send you opportunities for consideration to bid on.  We will educate you on the required registrations and guide you in completing them.  Certifications are socio and economically-disadvantaged programs for small business, minorities, women, and persons with disabilities to include Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).  We will educate you on the eligibility and application process for certification programs with federal, state, and local government.

Market Research - Federal, state, and local government agencies and their large prime contractors award billions of dollars worth of contracts and subcontracts each year to small companies like yours.  The UH APEX Accelerator can help you tap into the government marketplace.  Learn which government agencies buy your goods and services and how they buy them.  We will teach you how to define your target customer and find contract opportunities to fit your company’s capabilities.

Solicitation Assistance - Once you locate an opportunity you want to bid on, your advisor will review it with you to help you make a bid / no-bid decision.  If you decide to bid, your advisor will review it with you and answer your questions to make sure you understand how to submit a compliant offer according to the instructions. 

Understand Government Accounting System Requirements - Learn how to set up your accounting system to comply with specialized tracking and reporting requirements for government contracts, including SBIRs and STTRs. 

Event Participation and Speakers - UH APEX Accelerator provides speakers for events to present or train on subjects related to selling to the government.  We also staff a booth or table to support your event with advisors to discuss with attendees how to sell their goods and services (including construction) to federal, state, and local government.  To request our participation at your event, please email us at uhptac@uh.edu.  Include in your email your name, contact information, title, name of organization, date and time of day of the event, and the specific participation requested, such as, promote our services with a booth or table setup and / or teach a government procurement subject.  If you request us to teach a subject and the subject is known, provide the name of the subject.
